Hanwha Phasor, the inventor of the ultra-low profile, active electronically steered phased array antenna for mobile satcom, is looking for an ambitious senior systems design engineer who wants to make his or her mark on next generation product. For us, this lies in the new frontier of flat panel antennas: inflight connectivity.
Low earth orbiting constellations are being commissioned from 2025 and this product must meet new and significantly higher bandwidth requirements than our existing product can, primarily in aero but with land and sea satcom connectivity in our sights.
The successful candidate will be required to take responsibility for devising fundamental architecture for a product that will be a world first.
While we have already pushed the boundaries of our current product’s architecture, you will help us make a yet bigger technology leap, designing an AESA which builds upon our world-leading dynamic beam tracking, while providing very wide instantaneous signal bandwidth.
This is a unique challenge in system architecture, algorithm development and understanding of the end-to-end satellite system.
In return, you will become the ultimate design authority for the world’s first flat panel antenna for aero markets.
There is an open and collaborative culture at Hanwha Phasor with numerous subject matter experts with whom to explore and develop concepts and solutions.
A framework for the system design is in place; while system integration and feature development work, plus the algorithms that lie at the heart of the product’s scalability, can be absorbed into your design from the current generation of product.
To put your name on a 250 MHz “up/down”, modem-agnostic, multi-orbit, multi-beam flat panel antenna with an easy GUI interface for communications on the move, you will work with colleagues from the best aerospace, defence and electronics names internationally.
These include some of the most gifted radio experts around at our headquarters in central London, plus top-notch colleagues in Cambridge working at the cutting edge of chip design, where our ASICs Centre of Excellence is based.
The successful candidate will be part of dynamic engineering team developing state-of-the-art technology that will revolutionise the way mobile communications are deployed for a market that stands to grow exponentially in the next 10 years.
As the original disruptors in solid-state satcom-on-the-move antenna, Hanwha Phasor is rewriting the book on phased arrays. It’s one of the toughest challenges in satcom. And, so far, we are the only team to demo multi-axis capability in real world conditions.
Now we’re closing in our goal: active electronically-steered antennas (AESA) for super-fast, super-reliable connectivity—GEO, of course, but LEO, MEO and HEO too.
Our inventive combination of digital and analogue architectures enables highest performance gain for lowest power and lowest profile, while our modular approach enables configurable apertures for the full range of enterprise customers on the move – in the air, on land or at sea.
Backed by Hanwha Systems, the Korean technology giant with a growing presence in global satcom, we are attracting formidable partners: we have appointed a world-class, global manufacturing partner, and two of the world’s best FABs are working on our chips.
So, what does that mean for you? All the fast-paced opportunity you’d expect from a challenger, plus the systems, processes and investment you’d want from an established industry leader.
