Senior/Principal RF/Analog IC Layout Engineer

IC Layout Engineer to carry out block level as well as top level of RF, Analogue and Mixed-Signal Layout Design in various process technology nodes primarily for high frequency transceivers (Receiver and Transmitter) including the baseband and RF front ends.

Technical responsibilities

  • Responsible for layout design of a complex transceiver designs (currently Ku band) in different technologies.
  • Hands-on block-level layout design and verification work
  • Top-level IP floor-planning and integration and IC sign-off
  • Work closely with analogue design team on IP floor-planning, trial layout design and parasitic extraction of critical structures.
  • Co-ordinate layout design activities with other colleagues and possible contractors.
  • Collaborate with CAD, process technology, package design and Antenna team •
  • Document own work and participate in design reviews
  • Provide guidance to the layout team members
  • Organise and establish control systems to monitor performance and evaluate layout and it’s flow;

Organisational responsibilities

  • Ongoing development of core competencies & technical skills
  • Receptive and agile to the project needs.
  • Good estimation of timescales for projects & sub tasks
  • Follow good engineering practices including processes, documentation, tools & automation.
  • Identify risks, flag issues in a timely manner so project milestones remain on schedule.

Essential qualifications and skills

  • A relevant degree
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in RF, Analogue and Mixed-Signal layout design
  • Advanced Cadence Virtuoso Design Framework Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Cadence/Calibre verification methodology and flow
  • Ability to work and interact with engineering teams across multiple disciplines during ASIC project stream development
  • Great communication skills and able to take responsibility for complex layout designs and delivery to tight timescales.


Experience in:

  • Experience on layout of 22nm FDSOI, and BICMOS process nodes for RF, Analogue and Mixed-Signal IPs.
  • Experience on mmw RF IC layout
  • Experience on Calibre verification tools
  • Experience on revision control tools
  • Experience on EM modelling tools such as HFSS/EMX
