Senior Buyer

As Hanwha Phasor continue to develop hardware and move closer to product release, the Operations team are looking to recruit a dedicated Senior Buyer to take ownership of procurement and management of components and consumables. The successful candidate will work closely with the design and operations teams to establish a robust supply chain to support the scale up of hardware procurement ensuring that obsolescence issues,  and supply chain risks are identified and mitigated in a timely manner. The role will require a self-motivated Senior Buyer who has a strong background in of working with electronic and mechanical component suppliers ensuring best value and on time delivery are achieved. They should be a good communicator, motivated by teamwork and happy to support the team to ensure that the company objectives are achieved.

 

Reporting directly to the Sub-contract Manager this role will manage all component level Materials Procurement Actives from Request for Quotation through to delivery and support the Sub-contract Manager on supplier activities.

Technical responsibilities

  • Manage component purchasing
  • Manage Inventory in line with MRP recommendations.
  • Expedite materials from suppliers so they are available when required.
  • Maintain Order book data integrity with a focus on zero past dues.
  • Liaising with suppliers to discuss queries.
  • Source obsolete products as required by customer’s Bill Of Materials (BOM).
  • Complete materials costing analysis using Excel.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Obtain competitive pricing for materials.
  • Quote and purchase electronic and mechanical components and consumables.
  • Assists other teams as required

Organisational responsibilities

  • Support transition of Manufacturing to contract manufacturing partners
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time and build good working relationships with cross-functional teams and external departments, reporting against targets where required
  • Excellent communication skills. Strongly self-motivated and able to take responsibility of problems and finding effective solutions

Essential qualifications and skills

  • Purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of purchasing electronic components / PCB’s is essential.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including Intermediate
  • Excel skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic.

Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of import / export legislation including ITAR
  • Experience of Working in Aerospace and US Contracting Environment including FARS/DFARS
  • Strong network of industry / internal contacts
  • Excellent experience of make/Buy reviews and Supplier Management and Engagement Plans
  • Good understanding of Electronics Procurement preferable in and RF environment
