As part of its progression into the next phase of the company’s strategic growth plan, Hanwha Phasor is seeking to develop its quality engineering function with an experienced Quality Engineer.
Reporting into the Quality Assurance Manager and working closely with the Design, Procurement and NPI teams. The role of Quality Engineer will have a primary focus on supporting the company product development and implementation process through all stages of the product lifecycle. Quality Engineering support will include:
- Undertaking the independent process/quality assurance activities as defined within RTCA-DO254 (Hardware) and RTCA-DO178C for software to support the product development process
- Managing the implementation of APQP throughout the product development project
This important role requires proven industrial experience of quality engineering to support new product introduction programs within an aviation airworthiness of systems context. In addition to supporting RTCA-DO-254/RTCA-DO-178C process assurance activities. the Quality Engineer will also be responsible for developing advanced product quality plans (APQPs) to support product development as well as leading the deployment of APQP tools such as FMEA, MSA and statistical process capability.
The Quality Engineer will also assist in the maintenance and verification of the implementation of the formal Quality Management System by undertaking internal quality audits and participating in third party audits where required.

Technical responsibilities
Working in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Manager and the wider Supply Chain team, key deliverables will include:
- Support the company airworthiness certifications by undertaking product project process assurance activities (document review, project reviews and process audits) as defined within RTC-DO-254 and RTCA-DO-178C
- Create and own APQPs for products which cover all stages of their lifecycle
- Creation and maintenance of supplier quality performance reports for subcontract manufacturers
- Support quality surveillance activities for key suppliers to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Reviewing supplier submitted FAI reports to support the company’s New Product Introduction Process
- Undertaking periodic internal quality audits to support the company’s annual audit program
- Managing the successful completion of corrective actions for non-conforming outputs associated with suppliers, internal incidents as well as those reported post-delivery by customers/users in the field
- Liaison with Customer Services to support the timely and effective resolution of customer complaints
- Acting as the main quality contact point for any project related quality topics or queries
Essential qualifications and skills
- Demonstratable experience of quality engineering to support systems product development and management through all stages of the product lifecycle
- A good appreciation of engineered systems covering both hardware and software
- Experience of leading the application of APQP in product development including compiling product quality management plans in line with AQAP standards, PFMEA, DFMEA, MSA and statistical process capability and control
- Proven experience of working closely with external suppliers to support product development projects as well as managing quality issues to closure
- Able to plan, undertake and manage internal quality audits to closure
- Working knowledge of ISO9001:2015, AS9100: Rev D, RTCA-DO-254 and RTCA-178C
- Conduct RCCA investigations using common tools (8D Ishikawa, 5Whys etc.) and support the completion of corrective and preventive actions
- Strong interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and with customers and suppliers
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal. Fluency in written and spoken English
- Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews as needed
- A background in a telecommunications/systems environment for the aerospace, space and defence sectors.
Desirable
- Experience and/or awareness of process assurance to the requirements of RTCA-254 (hardware) and RTCA-DO-178C (software), candidates without this will undergo formal and on the job training to cover this activity
- IRCA recognised Internal or Lead Auditor qualification in ISO 9001/AS 9100 or similar
- Good knowledge of Lean 6 sigma methodologies
- Exposure to electronics box build supply
