Hanwha Phasor Logo

Interoperable, ultra-low profile, high-gain satcom on the move

Lead Systems Engineer (Requirements Management)

Lead the systems requirements capture, verification and validation process for electronically steered antenna arrays for satcom applications, managing design compliance throughout the engineering development lifecycle.

Look up and lock on to a bigger future, fast

As the original disruptors in solid-state satcom-on-the-move antenna, Hanwha Phasor is rewriting the book on phased arrays. It’s one of the toughest challenges in satcom. And, so far, we are the only team to demo multi-axis capability in real world conditions.

Now we’re closing in our goal: active electronically-steered antennas (AESA) for super-fast, super-reliable connectivity—GEO, of course, but LEO, MEO and HEO too.

Our inventive combination of digital and analogue architectures enables highest performance gain for lowest power and lowest profile, while our modular approach enables configurable apertures for the full range of enterprise customers on the move – in the air, on land or at sea.

Backed by Hanwha Systems, the Korean technology giant with a growing presence in global satcom, we are attracting formidable partners: we have appointed a world-class, global manufacturing partner, and two of the world’s best FABs are working on our chips.

So, what does that mean for you? All the fast-paced opportunity you’d expect from a challenger, plus the systems, processes and investment you’d want from an established industry leader.

Technical responsibilities

  • Lead the development and improvement of the Hanwha-Phasor requirements management processes and oversee adherence to the defined processes.
  • Own system level requirement specifications, working with the wider engineering team and Systems Design Authority to capture and derive the requirements flow-down from product level to engineering functions.
  • Work with the system design team and wider engineering function to extract system and module level modelling and analysis results in order to verify that the system as designed will meet specification.
  • Collate and analyse metrics and data during the system validation process. Provide process improvement proposals where required.
  • Own the engineering test management process to ensure that there is full traceability from the verification process (e.g. test plans, test procedures and test results) back to the requirements.
  • Produce documentation, specifications and reports to an excellent standard to support quality assurance.
  • Capture customer requirements and integrate into the requirements management system in order to interpret the impact of customer requirements on system level specifications.
  • Support the wider technical deliverables required for product development, such as lifecycle management, methods development, peer reviews, procurement support and test documentation.

Organisational responsibilities

  • Work with the engineering teams across multiple disciplines to integrate technology requirements into the systems, software, electrical and RF design.
  • Take responsibility for requirements engineering for complex multi-disciplinary projects and delivery to tight timescales, communicating through presentations and written reports.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements associated with the product development lifecycle. Author and maintain processes as required.
  • The role will be primarily based at the company’s London office.

Essential qualifications and skills

  • A good first or Upper 2nd Class degree (BEng/MEng) in Engineering or equivalent work-based qualifications.
  • Extensive experience using IBM DOORS or other industry-standard engineering requirement management tool.
  • Extensive experience using IBM ETM or other industry-standard engineering test management tool.
  • 8+ years in systems engineering role.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate Engineering Degree or Undergraduate Engineering Masters Degree
  • Experience of systems design and integration of RF products (GHz range).
  • Experience of systems design for aerospace applications and aerospace qualification procedures
  • Product development of SatCom antennas (preferably Ku and/or Ka)
  • Failure mode and effect analysis applied to system functional behaviour
