Data Compliance Officer

As Hanwha Phasor continue to develop hardware and move closer to product release, the Operations team are looking to recruit a dedicated Data Compliance Officer to take ownership of all data control and compliance obligations whether these be Legislative or Contractual. The successful candidate will work closely with all disciplines within Hanwha Phasor to ensure compliance with these obligations and to prevent the incorrect transmission or export of all data to an unauthorised recipient.

The role will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and requires a self-starter who is able to understand complex requirements and define new company policies and process in a greenfield environment in order to ensure compliance. The individual will also be required to deploy effective awareness training and define a set of KPIs to monitor compliance.

The key aspects of the role are as follows:

  • Develop and define data protection policies, guidelines and procedures to prevent the transmission or receipt of sensitive personal, business and technical data to unauthorised recipients.
  • Coach and train internal stakeholders on best practice and compliance frameworks.
  • Partner with internal departments and stakeholders to develop, agree and implement a data framework.
  • Create, prepare and deliver reports on data protection compliance.
  • Participate in meetings acting as the subject matter expert.
  • Maintain ISO & Cyber essentials Plus certifications, working with our external audit partners.
  • Establish an Information Security & Compliance roadmap.
  • Advise on and monitor data protection impact assessments, including assisting external stakeholders with the completion of theirs in relation to Hanwha Phasor.
  • When required support external stakeholders on Information and data security.

Technical responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Managers, commercial and procurement to understand the compliance landscape.
  • Define Processes and Procedures.
  • Track and Monitor Data receipt and transmission ensure that process to prevent accidental release to unauthorised parties are in place.
  • Publish KPIs and corrective actions.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff.
  • Work closely with the IT department to introduce any software or initiatives to support data compliance.

Organisational responsibilities

  • Support the Quality Manager to ensure data compliance is achieve.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time and build good working relationships with cross-functional teams and external departments, reporting against targets where required.
  • Excellent communication skills. Strongly self-motivated and able to take responsibility of problems and finding effective solutions.
  • Report monthly to QA Manager on progress and KPIs.

Essential qualifications and skills

  • Ability to understand complex environments with many diverse compliance requirements.
  • Ability to establish new processes with proven track record of successful implementation.
  • Proven experience in an Information security environment, including developing security and compliance policies and plans.
  • Expertise in data protection laws and practices, including UK and EU GDPR.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of information risk concepts and principles.
  • Ability to influence and coach technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ambition and initiative to drive change in a fast-moving sector.
  • Ability to prioritise workflow and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to influence and learn in an ever-changing environment.


Experience in:

  • Strong network of industry / internal contacts.
  • Good working knowledge of import / export legislation including ITAR.
