Desktop Support Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Desktop Support Engineer.  You will be a member of the IT Team, working closely with the IT Manager. You will be responsible for providing desktop support to Hanwha Phasor employees, both face-to-face (at London office and occasionally at Cambridge office) and remotely.  

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic London-based technology company developing and delivering complex and innovative products into the aerospace, maritime and land mobile industries.

Technical Responsibilities: 

  • Provide 1st & 2nd line Support for Windows and mobile devices
  • Prepare and set up new desks/computers – desk moves.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining and updating existing knowledgeable documentation 
  • Contribute to managing the IT inventory across all sites
  • Assist in IT Systems maintenance e.g. backups , keeping Windows Server updates 
  • Train new individuals in using software and apps 
  • Manage AWS instances and users accounts

Organisational Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage effective professional working relationships with co-workers
  • Provide input into the IT project planning process
  • Take ownership of problems and finding solutions
  • Able to work closely with HR to assist in office administration
  • Willing to occasionally work out-of-hours or weekends

Qualifications & Skills:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, VLAN, FIREWALLS, VPN.
  • Strong knowledge of Outlook, SharePoint, Teams and Office 365 products.
  • Good understanding of Azure AD and AWS. 
  • Good general computer hardware and networking knowledge. 
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, remote access solutions and software deployment
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication (both verbal and written)
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Able to operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical - team members 


  • Exposure to VMWare  
  • Microsoft Certifications
  • CompTIA or Cisco Certifications

Hanwha Phasor Ltd’s Technology Centre is based in modern, open plan offices with great views, in the vibrant area of Hatton Garden, London.  

For transport we have excellent connections, with Farringdon, City Thameslink and Kings Cross St Pancras over ground stations within walking distance, and Chancery Lane and Farringdon tube stations within a 5-minute walk.
